I don't know when I last completed a piece of writing, so I hope I remember how to do this. It's even longer since I wrote something primarily for myself, so it seems kind of appropriate that I chose an obscure fandom to re-start with.

Title: Rituals
Fandom: Wire in the Blood
Words: ~1300
Ratings/warnings: G/None
Spoilers: None, but in my head, it's set some time in S2
Notes: With huge thanks to [info]mad_jaks and [info]miss_zedem for hand-holding and punctuation saving.

Summary: "Of all people, Tony understands the importance of ritual."

One of the nasty side effects of having a prolonged period of downishness is that it makes me a)selfish and b)forgetful. I have the sensation at the moment that life is what is happening while I sit here, because I just don't feel able to cope with living it.

In an attempt to compensate, I tend to drown myself in Stuff - craft things, reading things, food things - anything that will let me feel. It's also a way of proving to myself that I'm useless. Look at all these wonderful things and how few of them you're achieving. So I just end up deeper and deeper in Stuff until I can't see a way out any more.

In an attempt to dig myself out, I've been making achievable lists and concentrating on Getting Stuff Done, but there are always things that fall through the cracks, sometimes with impressively poor results. To help me stop missing things so much, I've just done a bit of a journal trim. Mostly comms, but some people as well, and usually folk that either aren't around any more or where we don't really talk any more.

As I said above, I'm very much Not With It at the moment, so if you think I ticked the box by accident, PLEASE let me know. Lurkers are always welcome, but the trouble is that I don't always know you're there. Comment or DM me if I've screwed up and I'll try to put it right.

Things here are still somewhat unsettled, but this made me smile today and I thought it would appeal to some of you.

It's actually a pretty good explanation of the whole damn thing and told me some stuff I didn't know.

Papery things you might like:

Yakawonis. Amazing anatomy designs in paper.

Cut out art that has to be seen to be believed. Stunning, detailed, imaginative work.

Help: everyone needs it from time-to-time and Medecins Sans Frontieres provide it to the people in the world who need it the most. Twelve Tales of Healing is an anthology of twelve (and one spare, in case you need it) stories about getting better by thirteen different authors; some established, and some brand new. All profits from the sale of Help: Twelve Tales of Healing go directly to Medecins Sans Frontiere to help them to help those who really need it.

MSF has been my charity of choice for a while now. If you knit, consider supporting it through P/HOP (or see the Ravelry group), if you read, consider supporting it by buying this book. If you're in the UK, you might even get it in time for Christmas. Buy it for you, for family, for friends or just for MSF.

To say I'm tired right now does not even begin to cover the feeling of having done a day's work, gone out, come back, made 3 batches of cupcakes, made dinner, done washing, made jewellery and then having 3 hours sleep. Then coming to work, doing a full day, icing cupcakes and dealing with dim people. And annoying printers.

*rereads*

I have no idea if that sentence is grammatical or not, but frankly, I'm too tired to even care. Y'all know what I mean. Right?

HOWEVER. There is one Very Important Thing I must do before I doze off at the enquiry desk (I already fell asleep on my can of diet coke over lunch and got the impression of the rim all down my nose. It's not a good look.)

Er. Hang on. Oh yes. Point.

The point is that I have been Podficced! It is very, very exciting, especially since the reading really, really matches the sound of the story in my head. I love podfic and consumed hours and hours of it last year, then I ran out of Gen, or fandom, or something, and I haven't listened to any for ages. So hearing these was a real joy, especially since [info]reena_jenkins has absolutely caught the tone. It's always a bit nerve-wracking, giving blanket permission for your stories to be played with, since a)You risk NO ONE looking at them at all, which is sad and b)Oh gosh, what if they don't sound right.

Luckily Port Call has really long author's notes, and although we have different accents, it was like listening to the voice in my head read them aloud, so I knew it was going to be okay. Also, for me, there's something *right* about SGA stories being read in an American accent, which is why I never wanted

So having rambled at you in a sort of sleepily excited kind of way, I shall let you go and shower praise on her for doing an awesome job :)

Both are over at [info]amplificathon

Port Call and Pilferage, Pirates, and Plotting (2 stories, 1 entry)

Five mission reports Sheppard's team turned in (and one they didn't)

PLEASE if you listen, go tell Reena how awesome she is. Writers are usually the ones who get the love in these arrangements, but a good reader absolutely makes or breaks a story, and Reena is an awesome reader.

Who knows. I may even be inspired to write more.

Once I've had some sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeepzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*snore*

This is sort of a late contribution to [info]karaokegal's Come as you aren't party. But mostly, this is for [info]caersmane. Just because.

Title: Consultation
Fandom: The Mentalist/Sherlock Holmes
Rating: G
Word Count: ~1780
Summary: Two detectives walk into a bar...
Why it's a costume: Okay, it’s more of a party frock than a costume, but since I thought the writing was gone forever, I just feel lucky to be here :)

Notes: This is loosely based on the “two fandoms walk into a bar” premise, but in my mind is part of my A Few Quiet Drinks ‘verse. Either works. Huge thanks to Donutsweeper, Rustydog and Crystalshard for hand-holding, beta-duties and necessary Gibbsmacking.

As some of you may remember, last week saw The Teddy Bear Party, where Teddy had a fine visit to the library.

Not to be outdone, my other half decided that Teddy should spend the day in the lab as well.

There's no need to ask why I married this man, is there? )

It is possible that this video saved my sanity today. No kidding. Bad morning. Happy lunch hour.

She should know already, but go tell [info]crystalshard how hard she rocks. Just click the vid to go to the YouTube page

[Unless...Chrys, if you spot this and want to put a public entry some place for folk... ;)]

I'm going to be singing this all afternoon...

This is semi-lifted from my craft-blog post, since I realised I didn't make a post about it last week. But then again, that one was all about how I shouldn't be buying more until I've used up what I've got, so it was kind of dull ;)

There are actual pictures this week, so hopefully a little less dull )

Today is the day of the Teddy Bear Party over at [personal profile] rustydog's. I own quite a lot of stuffed animals, but oddly enough, only one little teddy bear. But he and I went on a little trip around the library this morning.
